We provide gas and electricity procurement services to all our customers. All our energy procurement services are delivered independently by expert energy consultants.

Information gathering

Prior to any tendering activity PH Energy Services (PHES) will review the customer’s current contractual arrangements across the whole portfolio:
  • Identify any sites not included in main supply contracts
  • Assess current contractual arrangements and pricing with regard to these sites
  • Recommend course of action for energy procurement a strategy and portfolio management over the longer term in order to minimise the energy spend for the customer.
  • Review of current contract arrangement.

Tender activity:

Following the initial portfolio analysis PHES will undertake the following:
  • Prepare the site and meter information for tender, this will include wherever possible sites not currently included in the main contracts.
  • Provide market information to enable decisions regarding the timing of the tender, however the gas contract must be tendered within the next few weeks
  • Liaise with the major UK suppliers to obtain competitive prices and associated contractual arrangements, such as payment terms, take or pay etc
  • Present the prices to the customer for discussion. It is very important that decisions can be made quickly in order to secure prices in what is a very volatile market

Market analysis and energy procurement strategy
   PC's

PHES has access to many sources of information regarding the gas and electricity wholesale market and consider this information in relation to our customers on a daily basis. Prior to your tender we can advise on market movements and its impact on your forecasted energy spend.

Good market information helps you to plan your energy procurement strategy and budgets, and helps you make informed decisions in areas such as ‘when is a good time to buy?’ and, ‘should I go for single-year contracts, or longer?’

PHES can also advise on a price risk management strategy that would allow the customer to take advantage of a falling gas or electricity prices whilst limiting the risk that is taken. Once a supplier has been chosen through the above process, an upper limit on the commodity price is agreed and PHES will then monitor the market on a daily basis. If prices start to edge towards this upper limit the contract is executed with the chosen supplier. PHES also advised on a time base trigger that allowed for the contracting and transfer process to take place in good of time.

Implementation

Once given the go ahead PHES will obtain quotations from the energy suppliers. These will be analysed before presentation to the customer.
We will then discuss price, product and terms and conditions in detail with the customer to ensure that the most suitable contract is chosen. Sometimes the best price is not always the best product for our customer. We can talk through this potential minefield and avoid any nasty surprises in the future.

PHES will then liaise with the winning supplier to obtain the necessary documentation and lock down prices.

PHES will oversee any site migration activity and assist in the resolution of any problems in this area.
